Greek Ambassador presents credentials in Ashgabat
03.12.2024 | 22:35 |On 3 December, the new Ambassador of Greece to Turkmenistan, Ekaterini Ksagorari, officially assumed her duties by presenting her credentials to Chairperson of the Mejlis (Parliament) Dunyagozel Gulmanova.
On behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the Speaker of the Parliament congratulated the Ambassador on her appointment and wished her success in her endeavors to strengthen friendly relations and develop interstate dialogue.
The Greek diplomat, based in Moscow, was briefed on the main directions of Turkmenistan's domestic and foreign policy, as well as the activities of the national parliament.
During the meeting, the parties noted with satisfaction that there are ample opportunities for exchanging experiences in legislative practices and other areas of cooperation between the two countries.
The topic of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Greece in the political, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres was also discussed today at a meeting between Ekaterini Ksagorari and Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Mahri Bashimova.
Particular emphasis was placed on cooperation in the fields of education, science, sports, and tourism. The parties considered the possibility of establishing contacts between universities, particularly those specializing in international relations and diplomacy.
The importance of cooperation within international structures, in particular the UN, the EU, and others, was emphasized. In this regard, the parties discussed the possibility of organizing meetings between representatives of the two countries at international venues to promote constructive multilateral relations.
In addition, the diplomats spoke about the significance of the upcoming 2025, declared by the UN General Assembly at the initiative of Turkmenistan as the International Year of Peace and Trust. Representatives of Greece were invited to participate in various events scheduled for this significant year.
