Samarkand hosts seminar on the project of modernization of hydrometeorological service in CA
05.11.2024 | 11:39 |Samarkand has become the venue for the second seminar on the project for the modernization of the hydrometeorological service in Central Asia. This was reported by the National Information Agency of Uzbekistan.
The seminar was organized by the World Meteorological Organization in collaboration with the World Bank and other international organizations. It is being held with the participation of representatives from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Finland.
In his address to the participants, Stefan Uhlenbrook, Director of the Hydrology, Water Resources, and Cryosphere Department at the World Meteorological Organization, emphasized that the seminar aims to exchange experiences and ideas on combating climate change and rising temperatures, as well as to develop a roadmap for upcoming work. The seminar also focuses on furthering cooperation between meteorological services of the region's countries and their counterparts in other parts of the world.
Participants are also assessing the national potential of the region's countries and exploring a number of important proposals and initiatives.
