Space for creative exchange: the II TURKSOY theater festival begins in Ashgabat

Today, Ashgabat became a vibrant stage for the opening of the II International Theater Festival, bringing together creative figures from the member countries of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY). This event is not just a celebration of art, but a solemn dedication to the ancient Turkmen city of Anau, which this year became the cultural capital of the Turkic world, as well as to the 300th anniversary of the great poet Magtymguly Fragi.

The festival brought together theater companies and artists from Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan, creating a unique space for cultural exchange and mutual understanding. In an atmosphere of friendship and creativity, the theaters present their best works, demonstrating the richness and diversity of Turkic culture. This is a wonderful opportunity to inspire one another while developing the performing arts and stage culture among young artists.

One of the events in the festival context will be the TURKSOY Biennial dedicated to the culture and historical monuments of Anau, which will open on 20 October at the Museum of Fine Arts of Turkmenistan. It will be a tribute to cultural heritage and a demonstration of new creative reflection on common traditions in art.
