Negotiations between the Presidents of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan took place in Ashgabat
10.10.2024 | 17:25 |Negotiations between President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who arrived on an official visit, took place in Ashgabat.
First, the heads of state held a one-on-one meeting, discussing a wide range of issues of Turkmen-Kazakh cooperation in the context of implementing previously reached agreements and promising plans for the future, TDH reports.
Then the negotiations continued in an expanded format, with the participation of members of the official delegations of the two countries.
Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan are united not only by geography, but also by the awareness of the inseparability of historical destinies. We profess common values, carefully preserve and honor traditions, moral principles. The current level of trust and mutual understanding allows our countries to confidently build their relations for the future, coordinate approaches to key issues of international politics, and form long-term plans for cooperation in the economy, trade, investment activities, and the cultural and humanitarian sphere, Serdar Berdimuhamedov said.
Kazakhstan is a reliable partner of our country in the trade and economic sphere. In this regard, the head of Turkmenistan highly appreciated the achieved level of cooperation in various sectors, the accumulated experience at the governmental and departmental levels. At the same time, it was noted that there is a vast space for more effective implementation of mutual potential. Turkmenistan also expects to continue and expand cooperation in the energy sector. The common asset already includes a major energy project - the Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China gas pipeline. In this regard, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov confirmed the readiness of our country to consider, together with Kazakh partners, the possibilities for a significant increase in energy supplies and expansion of their transit configuration.
Transport and logistics are also a strategic area of partnership, due to the significant capabilities of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan in forming transport and transit corridors along the East-West and North-South lines. Here, our country fully shares the initiatives on the need to build transcontinental highways through the territory of Central Asia.
Among other areas where our countries can actively cooperate, the head of Turkmenistan singled out the agro-industrial complex, the chemical industry, mechanical engineering, textile production, and a number of other industries.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov also expressed confidence that the creation of Turkmen-Kazakh border trade zones will serve as an important step in the process of further intensifying bilateral trade and economic partnership, including by increasing mutual supplies of agricultural and household equipment, food products, building materials, and petrochemical products.
According to the press service of Akorda, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced Kazakhstan's readiness to expand exports to Turkmenistan by a total of about $120 million across 80 commodity items and noted the importance of concentrating the efforts of representatives of large commercial and national companies of the two countries on launching real projects in industry, construction, logistics, communications, and other sectors of the economy.
At the end of the expanded negotiations, a ceremony of signing bilateral documents was held.
