 C5+1 meeting and Turkmen-American talks were held in New York

On September 27, a meeting in the C5+1 format was held in New York at the level of heads of foreign affairs agencies of Central Asian countries and the United States of America.

In his speech, Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov noted the effectiveness of the above-mentioned format and joint work in such important areas as economics, security, energy and climate change, the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reported.

Meredov voiced the vision of the Turkmen side on strengthening cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United States in the above-mentioned and other areas.

At the end of the meeting in the C5+1 format, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov exchanged views with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on the further development of interaction on strategically important issues of Turkmen-American cooperation.

Then, Turkmen-American negotiations took place as part of representative delegations of the two countries.

The American side was represented by a delegation led by Senior Director of the US National Security Council Nicholas Berliner, and also attended by Special Advisor to the US State Department Sarah Minkara, representatives of the US State Department Tom West, Elizabeth Richard and other officials.

During the talks, the parties considered a wide range of areas of bilateral partnership. In particular, it was noted the need to further strengthen cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United States in the field of security.

Particular attention was paid to energy issues. At the same time, it was emphasized that Turkmenistan and the United States, relying on many years of experience in this area, are moving towards considering international contacts in the field of international energy. An overview was given of the state and prospects of trade and economic relations, and the role of the Turkmen-American Business Council as a mechanism for interaction between the two countries was noted.

The positive experience in the educational, scientific and humanitarian spheres was also emphasized, including within the framework of the US government's academic exchange programs.
