Afghanistan appointed an ambassador to Uzbekistan

Abdul Ghafar Tirawi has been introduced as Afghanistan's ambassador to Uzbekistan, the Afghan Foreign Ministry announced. Both sides have reached an agreement on this matter, the foreign ministry added, and the newly appointed ambassador is expected to take up his duties in Tashkent soon, TOLOnews reported.

The diplomatic department also emphasized that agreements have been reached with several countries to elevate the level of diplomatic relations.

The appointment of the Afghan envoy to Tashkent followed an Uzbek products exhibition held in Kabul the previous week and a meeting of high-ranking officials from both countries, during which 35 investment and trade agreements worth $2.5 billion were signed.

Earlier, ambassador of Afghanistan to the UAE and the Charge d'Affaires of the Afghan Embassy in Astana were received. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan issued official accreditation to the Charge d'Affaires of Afghanistan in July 2024.
