Oriented on making people closer

On Wednesday, July 31, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Turkmenistan Elizabeth Rood, who presented her credentials.

The diplomat conveyed greetings from US President Joseph Biden to the head of state and National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, confirming her country's interest in strengthening traditionally friendly interstate relations, TDH reports.

During the meeting, the fruitful nature of the interstate dialogue was noted. It was noted that regular contacts between the relevant departments of the two countries contribute to a constructive exchange of views on current issues on the international agenda, where special attention is paid to maintaining sustainable development, ensuring security, as well as such an aspect as climate change.

It was emphasized that Turkmenistan, neutral status of which has been twice recognized by the UN, is pursuing an active foreign policy, developing fruitful cooperation aimed at strengthening peace and achieving the SDGs in the regional and global dimensions.

One of the priority vectors of bilateral cooperation is the trade and economic sphere. In this context, the role of the Turkmenistan-USA Business Council was noted. For many years, such large American companies as Boeing, General Electric, John Deere, and Case New Holland have been implementing important joint projects in our country. At the same time, the presence of great prospects for building up mutually beneficial economic partnership was emphasized.

Cultural and humanitarian ties are also an integral part of Turkmen-American relations. This is clearly evidenced by mutual visits of delegations of the two countries, regular holding of Culture Days, various exhibitions and other events. Continuing on the topic, it was noted that the Makhtumkuli Fragi cultural and park complex was recently ceremonially opened in Ashgabat, where sculptures of famous foreign literary figures, including the American poet Langston Hughes, were also installed.

Elizabeth Rood assured that she would do everything possible to strengthen the interstate dialogue and bring it to a qualitatively new level.

The President of Turkmenistan and the US Ambassador expressed confidence that Turkmen-American relations, based on mutual goodwill, will successfully develop, filling with new specific content.

On July 31, a meeting with the newly appointed US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Elizabeth Rood was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

"The parties emphasized the traditionally friendly nature of bilateral relations. Political and diplomatic relations were discussed. The possibilities of building up partnership in the trade and economic sphere, as well as issues of implementing current and prospective projects in the cultural and humanitarian area were considered," the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan said.
