The SCO Forum on Green Development was held in Qingdao

The forum was organized by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China together with the SCO Secretariat, the Chinese Committee for Good Neighborhood, Friendship and Cooperation of the SCO, and the People's Government of Shandong Province. The forum was the first event under China's transitional presidency of the SCO, which will last until 2025.
Over two days, about 350 participants from China and other countries discussed environmental development, technological innovation and the fight against climate change. The forum, held on the theme “Jointly promoting green development and promoting the harmonious coexistence of man and nature,” contributed to the deepening of cooperation between the SCO countries and joint efforts on green development.
In his welcoming message to the event participants, Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized that protecting the ecological environment and promoting green development is the consensus of the SCO countries. He also expressed China's willingness to work with all parties to develop the "Shanghai Spirit", strengthen cohesion and interaction, promote green development, jointly create a new chapter of common development and jointly build an even closer community of shared destiny of the SCO.
During the forum, an initiative was put forward to build a “green” partnership for sustainable development.” Three supporting forums were also organized where participants exchanged views on topics such as “SCO Year of Ecology 2024”, “Technological Innovation to Empower Green and High-Quality Development” and “Climate Action for Low-Carbon Transformation”.
