On July 13-14, 2024, in the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, as part of the gastronomic festival “Tasty Kazan”, the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Turkmen poet Magtymguly Fragi was also celebrated.

The celebration of the poet’s anniversary, which was organized by the Consulate General of Turkmenistan in Kazan, was held in the spirit of the festival itself. The master class on cooking Turkmen national dishes – pilaf and yarma over a fire – truly became one of the highlights of the festival. These popular dishes of Turkmen cuisine did not leave any participant indifferent, because real masters of their craft demonstrated the subtleties and secrets of their preparation. Festival participants gathered around the chefs with great interest and asked them questions about the technology of preparing Turkmen dishes. People lined up in a long line to taste the fruits of Turkmen cuisine.

While everyone was waiting in the warm summer weather for the already prepared pilaf to steep, Turkmen cooks treated people to hot tungche tea, also cooked over a fire, in the spirit of real Turkmen tea drinking.

At the same time, on the main stage of the festival, the melody of dutar was played in front of the participants by a musical duo called “Dutaryng sesi”. Turkmen performers presented songs based on verses by Magtymguly Fragi for the festival participants under loud applause from the public.

At the end of the festival, when all the dishes were ready, the participants were able to enjoy Turkmen national dishes. In addition to the tasting, an exquisite buffet was organized for high-ranking guests, where they were able to appreciate the skill of Turkmen chefs and the variety of dishes presented.

Thus, the event contributed to the acquaintance of residents and guests of Kazan with the traditional cuisine of Turkmenistan, and the work of the great Turkmen poet Magtymguly Fragi, which promoted the further strengthening of cultural ties between countries and peoples.

It is worth noting that the gastronomic festival “Tasty Kazan” is an annual event that brings together culinary masters, gastronomic enthusiasts and lovers of national cuisine from all over Russia and neighboring countries under one roof.
