Young participants of the cycle ride were awarded in Ashgabat

The representative office of the United Nations Population Fund in Turkmenistan (UNFPA), in collaboration with the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Physical Culture and Sports, held an award ceremony for the participants of the cycle ride, which took place from May 27 to 29.

More than 40 young boys and girls took part in the cycle ride dedicated to World Bicycle Day, which is celebrated annually on June 3. Young cyclists enthusiastically covered the distance, demonstrating Turkmenistan’s commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle, sports and gender equality among youth.

As Head of the UNFPA office in Turkmenistan Kemal Goshliev noted, the cycle ride not only contributes to maintaining health, but also to achieving the green development agenda.

In addition to the award ceremony, as part of this event, the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports together with UNFPA held a quiz and discussions on the topic of gender equality, equal opportunities and the role of youth in the development of the country with the participants of the cycle ride.

Turkmen athletes demonstrate outstanding results at world-class competitions. This is further proof that women are capable of being successful and competitive in any area of life, including sports.
