AI on water: equipment will be installed in the Nautilus floating data center

American startup Cerebras Systems, specializing in the development of AI accelerators, will install equipment in the floating data center Nautilus Data Technologies in Stockton, California, Datacenter Dynamics reports.

Nautilus has a capacity of 6.5 MW and offers up to 55 kW per rack. The facility has backup generators with enough fuel to last 26 hours at maximum load.

The center uses patented Nautilus liquid cooling technology, which is based on the use of seawater. The water comes from the San Joaquin River.

As part of the signed agreement, Cerebras leases 2.5 MW. The data center will house Cerebras CS-3 systems based on WSE-3 accelerators. These products have 4 trillion transistors, contain 900 thousand cores and 44 GB of SRAM memory.

Local security agencies provide 24-hour monitoring of the area, and the Department of Homeland Security, US Coast Guard and San Joaquin County Sheriff's Department provide land and water patrols.
