Al-Jarwan: Dragon Oil in Turkmenistan will completely stop burning gas by 2027

Dragon Oil in Turkmenistan will completely stop burning gas at its production sites by 2027. This was stated by the company's CEO Ali Rashid Al Jarwan at the signing ceremony of the Oil and Gas Decarbonization Charter agreement during the COP 28 conference.

Al-Jarwan added: "This step is a clear indication that Dragon Oil is aware of the importance of strengthening measures to support the movement of the world towards a future free of greenhouse gas emissions," the WAM news agency reports.

The CEO of DO explained that in order to support the achievement of this goal, the company's efforts will continue to focus on actions aimed at accelerating the energy transition, investing in future energy systems and other technologies, including negative emission technologies, to contribute to achieving climate neutrality by 2050.

Al-Jarwan noted that the company is working on clean alternatives through innovations such as blue hydrogen, solar energy, cessation of gas combustion and other alternatives that support the goal of removing carbon from the oil industry.

Earlier, Al-Jarwan stated that over 23 years of joint work, Dragon Oil has invested over $ 8 billion in a project to develop oil fields in Turkmenistan, and is ready to invest at least the same amount in the next 15 years.
