Young Turkmen chess players have increased their ratings at the World Championship in Egypt
27.10.2023 | 12:40 |Young Turkmen chess players have significantly increased their international ratings, having successfully performed at the World Championship among cadets up to 8, 10 and 12 years old, which was held from October 15 to 26 in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.
Rauf Yusupov (current FIDE rating – 1500), who played in the tournament among boys under 12 years old, scored 6.5 points out of 11 possible and demonstrated a performance, i.e. by performing in 1883, he raised his FIDE rating by 195 points. Rauf took 28th place among 92 participants. During the tournament, he was able to win against strong opponents from the Czech Republic, Hungary, England, Bulgaria and Mexico.
Nebahat Muradova (1194), who competed in the tournament among girls under 12, scored 5.5 points and raised her rating by 150 points. After a successful start in the tournament, according to the results of the draw of the 4th round, Nebahat met with the bronze medalist of the tournament from Kazakhstan Aiaura Altynbek, where she lost to a strong opponent in a stubborn struggle. But Nebahat was able to win competitors from Hungary, Russia, Finland and Kazakhstan. As a result, she took 35th place among 74 participants.
Pervana Serdarova also raised her rating by 40 points, scoring 6 points and taking 22nd place among 70 participants. Pervana was able to win the champion of England under 12 Saharkar Sharvari, as well as strong rivals from Germany and Hungary.
The best result among Turkmen chess players was shown by Maksat Avlyakuliyev, who performed in the category among boys up to 8 years old. Having scored 7 points out of 11 possible, he ended up in the top 20 of the tournament (19th place) among 80 participants.
Dunya Ruslanova was below her capabilities, but also performed well in the category up to 8 years among girls and Alihan Batyrov in the category up to 10 years among boys. Dunya scored 6 points out of 11 possible and took 26th place among 63 participants. The young talent of Turkmen chess Alihan also scored 6 points and took 38th place.
Following the results of the tournament, the title of “World Champion” was awarded to Roman Shogdjiev (under 8 years old, Russia), Danis Kuandykuly (under 10 years old, Kazakhstan), Dau Huong Dui (under 12 years old, Vietnam), Bodana Sivanandan (girls under 8 years old, England), Zue Tianhao (girls under 10 years old, China) and Gunawardhana Devindya Oshini (girls under 12, Sri Lanka). In total, about 600 children from 67 countries took part in the tournament.
It Is planned that the next start for Turkmen chess players will be the World Championship among boys and girls under 14, 16 and 18, which will be held in the city of Montesilvano (Italy) in November.
