16.10.2023 | 20:15 |In the history of Turkmen musical culture, the name of the composer Durdy Nuryev occupies a prominent place. He entered the world of professional music in the 1960s and left a rich legacy of genre diversity: these are songs and romances, small-form plays and concerts for various musical instruments, operas and ballets, symphonic and vocal-symphonic works, music for films and performances, choral and chamber-instrumental compositions. Among his works are the opera "Fiery Hearts", ballets "Nisa" and "The Good Sorceress", musical comedies "Guncha" and "Hopeless Love", symphonic compositions "Karakum Canal", "Our Youth", "Seidi", concerts for piano, accordion, trumpet, flute, gidzhak and bass-dutara, music for the films "The Road of the Burning Van" (ashamed with the composer Chary Nurimov), "The Quiet Daughter-in-law" and "Through the cities of Turkmenistan" and others.
Durdy Nuryev was born on October 17, 1933. His childhood coincided with the events of the Great Patriotic War, his father, Nurym agha, heroically died defending his Homeland, and Durdy remained with his brothers, Sapar Nuryev and Chari Nurymov, who later also became music teachers and famous composers. In the 1940s, they studied at a comprehensive school and a children's music school with a wonderful mentor Olga Alekseevna Krivchenko, who was a teacher and composer Nury Halmamedov.
Durdy Nuryev in those years tried his first treatments of folk melodies "Sen-sen" and "Bibijan" - these pieces were included in collections of piano pieces and are very popular among children.
Later, Durdy Nuryev entered the Pedagogical College of Mary, but then his love for music led him to the Turkmen State Music School named after Dangatar Ovezov, to the piano teacher class of Honored Worker of Culture of Turkmenistan Viktor Grigoryevich Hiruntsev. At the same time, Durdy is studying composition with one of the founders of the composition school of Turkmenistan, People's Artist of Turkmenistan and the USSR, Professor Ashir Kuliyev.
The young man also had a deep interest in the history of Turkmenistan and entered the Turkmen State University, where he studied at the evening department with Professor Nazar Gullaev, with whom the composer subsequently had a close creative relationship in creating stage works.
In 1955, after graduating from the music college with a red diploma, Durdy Nuryev began working as a piano teacher at the Republican Special Music Boarding School. Here he saw that the pedagogical repertoire for young musicians is very lacking in musical works on national themes and begins to create his first compositions for children, these are: "Little Fisherman", "Impromptu", "Dance", "Waltz", "Music Box" and others that have firmly entered the repertoire for young pianists.
At the same time, Durdy Nuryev tries himself in the song genre, his songs, such as: "Spring has come", "Blooming Land", "Spring", "Youth Song" to the poems of modern poets began to be performed on the concert stage and won the hearts of listeners.
To improve his compositional skills, Durdy Nuryev entered the Tashkent State Conservatory in 1959, where he studied composition in the class of Professor Boris Isaakovich Zeidman. Already during his studies, he wrote a number of large-scale compositions, such as: Symphonic painting "Karakum Canal", Concertino for Piano and orchestra, Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra, musical comedy "Guncha", piano sonatas, quartets for string instruments and others.
After graduating from the Conservatory, Durdy Nuryev returns to Ashgabat and continues teaching at the Dangatar Ovezov Turkmen State Music College. At the same time, he writes a number of new works, including the ballet "The Good Sorceress" (1971) to a libretto by Kosha Japarov, intended for children, and the opera "Fiery Hearts" (1974) to a libretto by Ata Atajanov.
Among the symphonic works of large form, the symphonic poem "General Yakub Kuliyev" (1971), dedicated to the heroism of the Turkmen soldiers, the overture "Seidi" (1976), the symphonic suite "Children are our Joy" (1979) and others should be noted.
Durdy Nuryev is a wonderful teacher who brought up a whole generation of talented musicians. As a member of the Union of Composers of Turkmenistan, he also conducted a huge public work in the field of musical culture.
The composer in his work paid special attention to the genre of songs for children and youth, his vocal compositions such as "Ashgabat", "Song of Friendship", "Carpet Girl", "Happy Generation" won the special love of listeners. Continuing to enrich the educational and pedagogical repertoire, he writes "Sonatas", "Variations", "Toccatas" and program compositions for piano, accordion, wind and string instruments, which were published in music collections in "Magaryf", "Muzichna Ukraina", "Soviet Composer", "Music" and other foreign publishing houses.
