 The closing ceremony of the Asian Summer Games was held in Hangzhou

On Sunday evening, the closing ceremony of the XIX Asian Games was held in the Chinese city of Hangzhou, where the results of the sports festival were summed up and the flag of the Olympic Council of Asia was handed over to the next host city - Nagoya in Japan.

The ceremony was held at the Big Lotus Stadium, which turned into a blooming garden thanks to augmented reality technologies. 19 giant osmanthus flowers bloomed on the stadium field, symbolizing the prosperity of Asia and the diversity of Asian cultures. Each flower represented one of the 19 disciplines that were represented at the Asian Games.

The ceremony was attended by Premier of the State Council of China Li Qiang, who congratulated all participants and organizers of the Asian Games on the successful holding of the event. Acting President of the Olympic Council of Asia Randhir Singh announced the official closing of the Asian Games and thanked the Chinese government, the Chinese Olympic Committee, the residents of Hangzhou and the organizing Committee for this unprecedented success.

After that, a solemn ceremony of handing over the flag of the Olympic Council of Asia to the Governor of Aichi Prefecture in Japan and the deputy mayor of Nagoya, the host city of the 2026 Asian Games, took place.

The closing ceremony ended with a bright fireworks display and a musical show, which was attended by famous Chinese and Asian artists. They performed songs dedicated to Asia, sports and peace.

Turkmen athletes who took part in these competitions won 7 medals - one silver and six bronze. Judoka Maysa Pardayeva, boxer Bayramdurdy Nurmuhammedov, freestyle wrestler Dovletmurad Orazgylyjov, representatives of kurash Ishanmyrat Atayev and Aynur Amanova, karateka Bayry Bayryev were awarded bronze medals. The master of kurasha Tejen Tejenov brought a silver medal to the piggy bank of the Turkmen national team.

Recall that the Asian Games were held from September 23 to October 8. Initially, the XIX Asian Summer Games in Hangzhou were planned to be held from September 10 to September 25, 2022, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the competition was postponed to 2023.

In total, more than 15 thousand athletes from 45 Asian countries took part in the Games. 481 sets of medals in 40 sports were played at the Games.

Turkmen athletes represented the country in such sports as 3x3 basketball, boxing, freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling, jiu-jitsu, judo, kurash wrestling, karate, athletics, swimming, weightlifting and wushu.
