 China invites global cooperation on its lunar exploration mission

The National Space Administration of China invites to the global cooperation within the framework of the Chang'e-8 lunar exploration mission, Xinhua News Agency reports.

In this regard, it invites countries and international organizations to submit their proposals for research on the lunar surface. Applications are accepted until December 31, 2023.

According to the National Space Administration of China, preference will be given to initiatives to jointly develop robots capable of performing basic operations on the lunar surface, as well as other innovative scientific projects.

The Chang'e-8 lunar probe mission, scheduled to launch in 2028, will conduct geological studies of the Moon, observe the Earth from a lunar base, and analyze lunar samples. Chang'e-8, together with Chang'e-7, will form the basic model of the lunar research station. The Chang'e 7 probe is expected to be sent into space around 2026 to explore the resources of the moon's south pole.

A final decision on applications will be made in September next year.
