Turkmenistan called for the improvement of the IFAS contractual and legal framework
15.09.2023 | 13:34 |At the Summit of the Heads of State of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea in Dushanbe, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov proposed to intensify work on improving the contractual and legal framework of IFAS and to define the goals and objectives of the Fund's further work.
The Head of State also stressed that Turkmenistan will continue to support specific initiatives of the IFAS founding countries aimed at enhancing regional cooperation and forming systemic mechanisms of cooperation in the field of environmental protection and sustainable development in the Central Asian region.
The President of Turkmenistan spoke in favor of deepening international partnership to address a range of issues related to the Aral Sea as part of the region-wide environmental agenda. He called for strengthening the Fund's interaction with international financial institutions and donors on the implementation of projects and programs related to solving a wide range of issues currently existing in the Aral Sea basin.
"I am convinced that the problem of the Aral Sea, like the entire ecology of Central Asia, should take its proper place in the international ranking of environmental priorities. Our efforts here should be focused and focused on ensuring the rights and legitimate interests of millions of our citizens, solving economic and social problems for decades to come," President Serdar Berdimuhamedov said.
