 A chess player from Turkmenistan became the winner of an amateur tournament in the UAE

Turkmen chess player Valery Zhilkin became the winner of the Asian Amateur Chess Championship, whose ratings are no higher than 2000 points.

The tournament in Dubai (UAE) gathered 162 participants (120 men and 42 women) from various countries of the region. The winners were determined in the rating categories up to 2000, up to 1700 and among players without a rating.

In the men's tournament, chess fan from Turkmenistan Valery Zhilkin showed the best result among players without a rating, scoring 4 points out of 9 possible.

The first place in the men's tournament was taken by an athlete from India A.Kumaresh with 8.5 points out of 9 possible, and in the rating category up to 1700, the best result was shown by an athlete from the Philippines Santiago Herman with 6.5 points out of 9 possible.
