Turkmenistan's 3×3 basketball team stopped a step away from the awards of the II Games of the CIS countries

Turkmenistan's 3×3 basketball team has completed its performance at the II CIS Games. Toyli Bayriyev's team stopped a step away from the top three.

Having successfully passed the group stage of the tournament, the Turkmen national team made it to the playoffs. In the fight to reach the semifinals, the basketball trio had to face rivals from Kazakhstan.

The duel with the Kazakhs gave the Turkmen athletes a ticket to the semifinals. Bayriyev's wards confidently beat the opponent with a score of 21:15.

At the semifinal stage, the Turkmen team was expected to face the Russian national team, which unconditionally led its group and directly reached the semifinals. In a stubborn struggle, the Turkmen athletes lost with a score of 7:11 to a more experienced opponent, who later became the vice-champion of the tournament, losing in the final to the main team of Belarus.

But with the reserve of the host country of the Games, the Turkmen basketball players played in the match for bronze. However, even here fortune was on the side of the opponent - 22:13.

Despite the fact that the Turkmen team turned out to be without medals of the tournament, Bayriyev's wards demonstrated a worthy performance and resistance to more eminent teams, and the player of the Turkmen team Dovlet Narmyradov entered the symbolic men's national team, having been awarded the appropriate award.

The II Games of the CIS countries are held in Belarus from August 4 to 14 in 20 sports. More than 2.2 thousand athletes representing more than 20 countries take part in them. The closing ceremony will take place on August 13 at the Minsk Arena.

It should be noted that the national team of Turkmenistan was placed on the seventh line in terms of the total number of medals at the II CIS Games in Belarus. The Turkmen team now has 16 awards (3 silver and 13 bronze medals).
