Ozon has started construction of its logistics hub in Kazakhstan

Online retailer Ozon has started construction of the largest logistics complex in Kazakhstan, TASS refers to the company's message. The center with an area of 42 thousand square meters is being built in the Karasai district of Almaty region.

"Construction of the largest logistics complex in Kazakhstan in the field of electronic commerce of the Ozon marketplace has started in the Almaty region in the Karasai district. A symbolic foundation stone was laid at the construction site of the first stage of the facility in Almaty. During the year, the largest warehouse complex in Kazakhstan with a total area of 42 thousand square meters will appear here," the company said in a statement.

"As the company's business develops in the region, Ozon plans to launch the second and third stages of the facility," the press service said.

The Ozon fulfillment Center will carry out a full cycle of "production" of online orders from local sellers - from receiving goods for storage to forming a parcel and sending it to the client.

"After the opening of the center, manufacturers from different regions of the country will be able to transfer goods for sale on the marketplace faster and cheaper, as well as deliver them by Ozon to all countries of the company's presence in the CIS. We expect that the launch of the first stage of the facility will allow us to create 2 thousand new jobs in the region," said Molder Rysalieva, CEO of Ozon in Kazakhstan.

In February of this year, Ozon opened its first warehouse in Kazakhstan (previously there were only two sorting centers — in Almaty and Astana), and in May launched a second warehouse complex. In addition, Ozon plans to implement another project in the near future — to build a distribution center in the Orenburg region, which borders Kazakhstan.
