Young Turkmen chess players completed their performance at the World Championship with dignity
12.06.2023 | 02:45 |On Sunday, the second tournament within the world championship among cadets, boys and girls, i.e. in the age categories from 8 to 18 years, ended in Batumi (Georgia). This tournament was held with the "blitz" regulations, i.e. the players were allocated 3 minutes with the addition of 2 seconds for each turn.
All 12 chess players from Turkmenistan (one in each category) completed their performances at the top or in some cases in the middle part of the standings, which indicates a fairly high level of children's and youth chess in the country.
The highest result in the blitz competitions was shown by the FIDE master among women, the current champion of Turkmenistan among women in classical chess, Lala Shokhradova. With 7 points out of 11, Lala finished the tournament in 4th position in the category of girls under 18, losing to representatives of Uzbekistan, Belarus and Vietnam.
Dunya Ruslanova, the youngest representative of our team, a pupil of the Lebap chess school, closed the "top five" in the world in the category of girls under 8 with 6.5 points out of 11, along with the champion from England and representatives of Uzbekistan and India.
The results of other Turkmen participants in the blitz tournament were distributed as follows:
Boys under 8 – Maksat Avlyakulyev (Lebap), 7 points out of 11, 8th place out of 53 participants
Boys under 10 – Alihan Batyrov (Mary), 7 points out of 11, 12th place out of 62 participants
Boys under 12 – Rauf Yusupov (Mary), 5.5 points out of 11, 39th place out of 71 participants
Boys under 14 – Gurbanmyrat Rustemov (Lebap), 5 points out of 11, 31st place out of 44 participants
Boys under 16 – Sanjar Gaibullayev (Lebap), 5 points out of 11, 14th place out of 24 participants
Boys under 18 – Amanmuhammet Hommadov (Ashgabat), 6 points out of 11, 11th place out of 27 participants
Girls under 10 – Pervana Serdarova (Ashgabat), 6 points out of 11, 9th place out of 24 participants
Girls under 12 – Nebahat Muradova (Lebap), 5.5 points out of 11, 17th place out of 29 participants
Girls under 14 – Mahri Agamyradova (Lebap), 6.5 points out of 11, 8th place out of 36 participants
Girls under 16 – Leyla Shohradova (Lebap), 6 points out of 11, 10th place out of 21 participants
Today, the award ceremony for the winners of both tournaments (rapid and blitz) was held, at which Leyla Shohhradova, who took 3rd place in the rapid tournament on Thursday, ascended to the podium. Diplomas and valuable prizes were also awarded to Lala Shohradova and Dunya Ruslanova, who entered the "five" in the blitz.
Almost 500 young chess players from 35 countries of the world gathered for the World Championship, which was held from June 6 to 11.
Honored Coach of Turkmenistan Serdar Annaberdyev and team leader Sona Jumagulyeva accompanied and prepared the team during the competition.
