The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Uzbekistan has registered the incumbent President Shavkat Mirziyoyev as a candidate for the early elections of the head of the republic.
This decision was made at the last meeting of the commission. Along with Mirziyoyev, the CEC also registered three more candidates nominated by the country's political parties. These are Robakhon Makhmudova, representing the social Democratic party "Adolat", Abdushukur Khamzaev from the Environmental Party and Ulugbek Inoyatov, a representative of the People's Democratic Party.
Early elections of the President of Uzbekistan are scheduled for July 9. The election campaign started on May 10. It should be noted that this will be the first presidential election after the amendments to the constitution, which provide for the extension of the term of office of the head of state from five to seven years.
