 The celebration of the "300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Fragi" will be included in the list of memorable dates of UNESCO

UNESCO will take part in the celebration of 46 anniversaries in 2024-2025, initiated by Member States at the 216th session of the Organization's Executive Board. The list of memorable dates will also include the “300th anniversary of the birth of the poet Magtymguly Fragi”, presented by Turkmenistan. The proposal was supported by Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Ukraine. This was reported on the website of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

In 2024, Turkmenistan will celebrate the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great philosopher and poet Makhtumkuli. Festive events with the participation of UNESCO will be held throughout the year.

The commemorative list also includes other proposals that Turkmenistan initiated and supported jointly with other countries:

The 950th anniversary of the writing of the book "Divan Lugat at-Turk" by the lexicographer and philologist Mahmud al-Kashgari. ("Collection of Turkic dialects" 1074). Joint proposal of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan with the support of Hungary, Mauritania, Morocco, Qatar and Tajikistan;

900th anniversary of the birth of the architect Ajami Nakhchivani (1125 - the end of the 12th century). Azerbaijan with the support of Turkey and Turkmenistan;

1000th anniversary of the birth of Emir Unsur-al-Meali Keykavus ibn-Iskender ibn-Qabus ibn-Vushmagir. Islamic Republic of Iran with the support of Armenia, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan;

100th anniversary of the active life of the poetess Parvina Etesami (1907-1941). Islamic Republic of Iran with the support of Tajikistan and Turkmenistan;

Recall that on May 24, 2023, UNESCO included the collection of manuscripts of Makhtumkuli Fragi, presented by Turkmenistan, in the “International Memory” of the World Register.
