President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with the Governor of the Astrakhan region of Russia Igor Babushkin in Ashgabat, TASS reports.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of practical cooperation, and also focused on cooperation in logistics and shipbuilding.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov discussed with Igor Babushkin the prospects of cooperation in the humanitarian sphere. The Governor expressed hope for the participation of Turkmen collectives in the "Caspian Classical Music Festival", which is scheduled to be held in August this year.

Babushkin also called the tourism sector one of the promising areas of mutual partnership.

The Governor of the Astrakhan Region arrived in Ashgabat as part of the "Caspian — Sea of Friendship" motorcycle rally headed by him, which started on April 1 from Astrakhan. Its participants, arriving in Ashgabat, covered half the distance — 2.5 thousand km (the total length of the run is 5 thousand km).

Iranian Babolser and Rashte, Azerbaijani Astar and Baku, Russian Kaspiysk are waiting for the participants of the motorcycle race ahead. The run will end on April 11 in Astrakhan.
