Activists recycled 90 tons of plastic waste in Ashgabat as part of the UNDP and NPST project

At the initiative of the Nature Protection Society of Turkmenistan and the UNDP, more than 90 tons of plastic waste were sorted and processed in Ashgabat during the two stages of the pilot project, the UNDP Permanent Representative in the country Narine Sahakyan said in an interview with the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper.

Sahakyan noted that UNDP introduces local specialists to the standards of ecological construction and discusses the possibility of introducing "green" standards in Avaza hotels, and is also developing its own "green" standard for the hotel industry of Turkmenistan.

The representative spoke about the steps being taken to develop Turkmenistan's Fourth National Communication on Climate Change and the First Biennial Report of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

All key ministries and departments are involved in the preparation, including the Ministry of Education, which should introduce an interactive set on climate change for schoolchildren into the educational process.
