Chairman of the Upper House of the Turkmen Parliament Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who made a working visit to Japan at the head of the delegation of Turkmenistan, returned to Ashgabat on Saturday.

In particular, on Monday, September 26, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with the head of the House of Representatives of the Japanese Parliament, Hiroyuki Hosoda. They discussed exchanges at various levels between the two countries and the further development of bilateral inter-parliamentary dialogue, including in the field of lawmaking. The Chairman of the Upper House of the Parliament of Turkmenistan proposed to actively involve young people, as well as to increase the role of women in the interaction of parliaments. He also noted that 6 Turkmen institutions of higher education and 12 Ashgabat schools study Japanese, and that the number of such educational institutions will increase. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited Hiroyuki Hosoda to visit Turkmenistan.

On the same day, the Chairman of the Upper House of the Turkmen parliament met in Tokyo with the head of the Turkish company Çalik Holding Ahmet Chalyk, discussing with him the current partnership and future joint projects in the field of energy, construction, etc.

On Tuesday, September 27, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with the heads of leading Japanese corporations - Itochu, Mitsubishi, Kawasaki, Sumitomo, Marubeni, Komatsu and others. The business talks focused on the forms of bilateral and multilateral partnerships in the sectors of the economy of Turkmenistan, including such segments as construction, transport, energy, and the chemical industry. The head of the Halk Maslakhaty noted that to date, Japanese investments in the Turkmen economy amounted to more than 11 billion dollars, and proposed to develop a new roadmap for cooperation and consider it at a meeting of the next Turkmen-Japanese commission.

After general discussions, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held separate bilateral meetings with the leadership of Kawasaki, Itochu, Mitsubishi, as well as the Turkish company Rönesans Holding.

On September 27, the head of the Halk Maslakhaty attended the state funeral of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and met in Tokyo with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. During the meeting, the parties discussed the possibility of further expanding partnerships between states, the participation of Japanese companies in the implementation of large-scale projects in Turkmenistan.

The necessity to develop partnerships in the transport sector was noted, and in this context, the possibility of launching air cargo and passenger transportation Ashgabat-Tokyo-Ashgabat was considered.

On Tuesday, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also met with the head of the Japanese-Turkmen Parliamentary Friendship Group.

In addition, within the framework of the working visit of the Turkmen delegation to Tokyo on September 30, a meeting was held between the Deputy Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and Japan, and the leaders of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs held talks with representatives of Japanese business. Also, meetings were held between representatives of the banking sector and the chemical industry of both countries. The modern concept of "smart city" was discussed at a meeting of leaders in the field of urban planning of Turkmenistan and Japan.
