The development and commercial development of oil and gas fields in the Caspian Sea became the key topic of the meeting between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and head of “Lukoil” Vagit Alekperov.

On Monday, the head of state met with the head of one of the largest oil and gas companies in Russia and in the world, discussing its activities in Turkmenistan.

Alekperov informed the president about work of “Lukoil” in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea, submitting for consideration a number of proposals for its further deployment and participation in large projects to diversify the hydrocarbon sector of Turkmenistan.

President Berdimuhamedov, during conversation with the head of “Lukoil”, outlined the vectors of the national energy policy, including stimulating investment and infrastructure development of the fuel and energy complex, expanding the geography of international supplies of hydrocarbons.

Particular attention was paid to the innovative development of the oil and gas industry with an emphasis on high environmental standards of advanced technologies, which is one of the main priorities of “Lukoil” in project implementation.

The participation of “Lukoil” in the development of the “Dostluk” field was previously discussed at the meeting of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with Vagit Alekperov in February of this year.
