The President of Iran arrived in Turkmenistan for participation in the ECO summit

President of Iran Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi arrived in Ashkhabad on Saturday evening for participation in the 15th summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).

After arrival in the capital of Turkmenistan Ashkhabad, the President of Iran and the delegation accompanying him President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov officially welcomed, as the Iranian news agency Mehr News informs.

Before departure to Ashkhabad, Raisi said that the purpose of his visit to Turkmenistan - expansion of bilateral, regional relations and cooperation. He made this statement on Saturday in Teheran.

Having touched upon necessity of deepening of good-neighbourhood between Iran and Turkmenistan, the President also said that important issues of gas, transit and other mutual issues would be the main points on the agenda of negotiations during this visit.


Raisi also informed that on the sidelines of the summit he will hold personal meetings with leaders of the countries-participants, and also separately will meet the President and high-ranking officials of Turkmenistan for discussion of bilateral and regional issues.

It is planned that Raisi will speak at the 15th ECO summit on Sunday and will explain positions and proposals of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the field of strengthening of regional and international relations and increase of level of cooperation, activization of economic contacts between ECO member countries.

Meeting with the Iranians living in Turkmenistan, Iranian businessmen and participants of the ECO summit - one more program of the visit of President Raisi.

10 members of ECO are Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan Pakistan, Turkmenistan Turkey, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
