On Saturday, the opening ceremony of the National Day of Turkmenistan was held at the World Exhibition in Dubai with the participation of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The celebration took place on Al-Wasl Square to the sound of the anthems of the two countries - the UAE and Turkmenistan, in the presence of Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director General of Expo 2020 Dubai Reem Al Hashemi.

The President of Turkmenistan examined the pavilion of his country, and also visited the pavilion of the UAE.

The pavilion of Turkmenistan, located in the "Mobility" zone, is one of the distinctive pavilions of Expo 2020 in Dubai, it operates under the motto "A journey into culture with Akhal-Teke horses."

Horses of this breed are considered one of the most beautiful and rare horses in the world and are one of the national symbols of Turkmenistan. Therefore, five horses, personifying the five regions of the country, are installed together with a fountain in front of the facade of the Turkmen pavilion, which is also decorated with the image of a traditional national carpet.

As part of the working visit of President Berdimuhamedov to the UAE, summit meetings and signing of bilateral documents will take place.

The UAE and Turkmenistan have extensive economic relations, including in the field of investment. Last July, the Abu Dhabi Development Fund signed two agreements with the first government of Turkmenistan to finance the construction of an airport in the city of Jebel in the Balkan region and a hybrid power plant.

The cost of the first project is $ 75 million. The second project will finance the construction of a 10 megawatt hybrid power plant at a cost of about US $ 25 million.

In February 2021, the Abu Dhabi Development Fund signed three memorandums of understanding with the government of Turkmenistan.
