Turkmenistan is interested to purchase KAMAZ electric buses
19.05.2021 | 23:20 |Turkmenistan is ready to consider the purchase of KAMAZ electric buses. This was stated by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at the talks held on Monday with the head of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, the official Turkmen press reported today.
The Turkmen leader drew attention to the fact that this type of transport meets strict environmental safety requirements. Minnikhanov noted that electric buses are one of the promising areas of work of KAMAZ.
Turkmenistan is carrying out large-scale work in the field of environmental education. Thus, in honor of the 140th anniversary of Ashgabat, from 10 to 25 May in the center of the Turkmen capital, the movement of personal vehicles was restricted in order to reduce harmful emissions into the atmosphere. In 2019, the country launched the world's first industrial production of environmentally friendly gasoline from natural gas.
The purchase of KAMAZ electric buses is also relevant for Turkmenistan from the point of view of availability of cheap electricity in the country, which is generated at modern combined-cycle power plants. In January-April 2021, its production increased by 9.9% compared to the same period last year, the State Statistics Committee told ORIENT.
The production of KamAZ-6282 electric buses began in 2018. About 500 of these vehicles are operated in Moscow, Naberezhnye Chelny and Rostov-on-Don.
One KAMAZ electric bus is designed for simultaneous transportation of 85 passengers. They are preinstalled with information screens, air conditioners and ports for charging mobile devices via a USB cable. Electric buses can accelerate up to 80 km/h, and during the trip they are 30% quieter than a regular bus.
KAMAZ electric bus can travel up to 52 kilometers on one charge. It charges from an ultra-fast charging station in about 20-25 minutes.
