ISTANBUL, May 21 — A delegation of specialists from the Ministry of Communications of Turkmenistan took part in the specialized international training workshop “Digital & AI Transformation for Landlocked & Transit Economies,” held in Istanbul, Türkiye, from May 19 to 21.
The educational program was organized by the Istanbul Regional Hub of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Delegation of the European Union.
Focus on Practical AI Solutions A distinctive feature of the three-day intensive workshop was its interactive learning format. Theoretical sessions were combined with practical group work, where participants from different countries jointly developed digital solutions using artificial intelligence (AI) tools tailored to the specific contexts of their respective states.
During the program, specialists explored:
• Five key dimensions of digital transformation for governments.
• Issues related to the governance of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) and data sovereignty.
• Realistic AI application scenarios in the public sector for landlocked countries.
• Assessment of AI’s impact on human rights using the specialized Impact Assessment Toolkit.
From Idea to Prototype
As part of the practical segment, participants not only studied theoretical concepts but also created real AI solution prototypes aimed at optimizing transit and logistics processes, while preparing strategic analytical briefs for profile agencies.
On the final day of the training, the developed projects were presented and the AI prototypes demonstrated before organizers.
The knowledge and practical AI skills gained during the Istanbul workshop will help IT specialists more effectively implement advanced technologies and digital tools within the communications and logistics infrastructure sectors.
