China installs more industrial robots than rest of world combined during 14th Five-Year Plan period

China’s industrial robot production has recorded substantial achievements during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), with notable advancements in output and the market share of domestic brands, according to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
During this period, China has accelerated the innovation and iteration of its industrial robot products. The domestic supply capacity for key components such as displays, servo systems, and controllers has been notably enhanced.
In 2024, sales of Chinese domestic-brand industrial robots totaled 177,000 units, reflecting an average annual growth rate of 33.1 percent during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. The market share of these domestic brands exceeded 50 percent, reaching 58.5 percent in 2024.
Since the beginning of the 14th Five-Year Plan period, China has installed more industrial robots than the rest of the world combined, with the robots deployed across 71 major industry categories and 241 sub-categories of the national economy.
During 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030), China will advance the deep integration of the robotics industry with artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies. Additionally, the country will prioritize accelerating product innovation and iteration to meet the demands of specialized, segmented robot application scenarios.
