Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday stressed the need to continue prioritizing ecological conservation and green development during an inspection tour of Ulanqab in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

Xi called for coordinating high-quality economic development with high-standard environmental protection and taking a comprehensive approach to restoring ecosystems including mountains, rivers, forests, farmland, lakes, grasslands and deserts.

He said efforts should simultaneously reduce carbon emissions and pollution, expand green areas and support economic growth.

During a visit to the Huangqihai Lake nature reserve, Xi reviewed local environmental protection efforts and called for strict enforcement of ecological conservation requirements, full implementation of the Wetlands Conservation Law and stronger ecosystem stability.

Xi also visited the Chahar High Tech Development Zone, where he learned about progress on the "East Data, West Computing" project and the development of green computing capacity. He emphasized scientific planning, security and deeper integration between the digital and real economies.

The Chinese president also viewed displays of local agricultural and livestock products and encouraged stronger links between production and markets to help raise residents' incomes.

According to CCTV+, Xi said different regions of China should pursue high-quality development based on local conditions while continuing to strengthen ecological protection.
