Joining forces in the automotive industry is not just a deal but a response to the challenges of the times, when technology develops faster than individual companies can adapt. When two strong players combine resources, they create not just a larger structure but a new quality capable of competing on a global level.

According to the statement, GAC, a state-owned automaker headquartered in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong Province in southern China, plans to acquire a 50 percent stake in the FAW Toyota joint venture owned by China FAW Corporation Limited, located in Changchun, Jilin Province in northeast China, through a share issuance while raising funds through a separate share placement. The number of shares issued will not exceed 30 percent of GAC's total share capital before the share issuance to raise funds. This step marks significant progress in the strategic cooperation between the two companies.

Experts noted that the cooperation between GAC and FAW represents a new model in which a centrally managed state-owned enterprise and a local state-owned enterprise use simplified equity ties and deep coordination. From the perspective of national industrial strategy, this cooperation offers a new example of addressing industry bottlenecks and mastering key technologies.

"State-owned automakers have long faced such problems as fragmented layout, mismatched production capacities, fragmented research and development, and homogeneous competition. Each company independently invests in new energy sources, intelligent driving and automotive chips, which makes it difficult to share technological achievements and leads to low efficiency in mastering key technologies. From the perspective of state-owned enterprise reform and coordination between the central government and local enterprises, GAC and FAW have created a new example of strategic cooperation," said Li Shaohua, deputy secretary-general of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

According to industry experts, the GAC-FAW cooperation will pool resources in various fields such as solid-state batteries, intelligent driving, on-board operating systems and automotive chips.

As reported by CCTV+, the GAC-FAW deal marked an important step in the consolidation of China's automotive industry. Combining the resources of two state-owned giants will accelerate the development of key technologies and strengthen China's position in the global electric vehicle market.
