AI in China's key manufacturing reaches 34.2%
Artificial intelligence is ceasing to be an experimental technology and is becoming a working tool of industry. The digitalisation of production is not just replacing routine operations with machines but changing the very logic of value creation, where data and algorithms determine competitiveness.
The report was presented at the World Manufacturing Convention 2026, held in Hefei, Anhui Province, eastern China, by the research arm of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The report says that most Chinese enterprises have achieved digitalisation in research and development, design, production and operational management. More than 10 percent of large manufacturing enterprises use large-scale AI models to drive business innovation. High-tech manufacturing in China saw value-added growth of 13.3 percent in the first half of 2026, with the production of integrated circuits and intelligent automotive equipment maintaining growth rates of 30 percent.
As reported by CCTV+, the data presented indicate that China is consistently increasing the adoption of AI in industry. The World Manufacturing Convention in Hefei became a platform where key indicators of digital transformation were announced, confirming the course towards technological sovereignty and modernisation of the manufacturing base.
