Xi Jinping chairs CPC leadership meeting as key plenum dates set for October
Strengthening comprehensive and strict Party self-governance and preparing for the next key Party meeting were at the center of a meeting of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee. The discussions focused on improving Party-building mechanisms and setting priorities for the period ahead.
On Monday, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, presided over a meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, which reviewed major issues concerning the strengthening of comprehensive and strict Party self-governance and set the dates for the upcoming Party plenum.
The meeting decided that the fifth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee will be held in Beijing from October 26 to 29.
It was also decided that a document on the decision of the CPC Central Committee to strengthen comprehensive and strict Party self-governance will be submitted to the plenum for consideration.
A preliminary draft of the decision was circulated among Party members and non-Party individuals for comments and received broad support from those consulted.
The meeting noted that the document provides an objective assessment of achievements and experience in advancing comprehensive and strict Party self-governance in the new era, offers an in-depth analysis of the situation and tasks facing Party building in the current and coming periods, and sets out strategic plans for further advancing comprehensive and strict Party self-governance.
The meeting stressed the need to steadfastly strengthen comprehensive and strict Party self-governance, uphold the Party’s overall leadership and the centralized, unified leadership of the CPC Central Committee, maintain a strict and consistent approach, and improve systems for advancing comprehensive and strict Party self-governance.
It was emphasized that efforts should be made to ensure that the CPC remains a vigorous Marxist governing party that keeps pace with the times, enjoys broad public support, can withstand various tests, and serves as a strong leadership core in building socialism with Chinese characteristics.
The meeting called for a full recognition of the significance and urgency of continuously advancing comprehensive and strict Party self-governance, as well as the adoption of higher standards and more concrete measures to address key issues in Party building.
As reported by CCTV+, the fifth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee will be held in Beijing from October 26 to 29 and will discuss further efforts to strengthen comprehensive and strict Party self-governance.
