Technology expo underway in Shenyang

The China International Equipment and Technology Expo is under way in Shenyang, showcasing a wide range of advanced technologies and the transformation of one of China's oldest industrial bases. From industrial machine tools and honing machines to intelligent robots, innovation is everywhere at the China International Equipment and Technology Expo in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, in northeastern China. Covering an area of 100,000 square metres, the expo includes 12 themed exhibition zones and brings together more than 1,000 companies from China and abroad.
"This year we have brought four products to the expo. They reflect our continuous efforts to develop new technologies and products. Let me tell you about the model behind me. This is an advanced compressor system we developed for large‑scale ethylene plants. We supplied a full set of these compressor units to the world's largest ethylene plant, with a capacity of 1.8 million tonnes per year. After years of research on key technologies, we have moved from being followers to leaders in this field," said Meng Lei, head of brand marketing and project management at ShenGu Group Co., Ltd. And that is exactly what foreign buyers came to see — what Chinese manufacturing is truly capable of.
"I am in Shenyang for the second time. I was here a few years ago and can see great changes. I would like to see more information about agriculture, more about robots," said Sava Bekwalats, a visitor from Serbia. "In Russia, there is a very high demand for tools and machine tools, as well as workshops, in different regions. I came here today to see if there are opportunities for cooperation," said Alexey Robinonov, a Russian visitor. As one of China's oldest industrial bases, Shenyang is leveraging its industrial heritage. Guided by policy and supported by targeted investment, the city is transforming traditional manufacturing into something more high‑tech, intelligent and green.
"If you compare Shenyang today with Shenyang 15–20 years ago, when I first came to Shenyang, they are two completely different worlds. Back then, when I came, we talked about how to produce machine tools and how to produce as many machine tools as possible. Today, we are talking about high‑quality global development. Shenyang has enormous potential. Almost all kinds of industries have long been represented in Shenyang. And the combination of these industries with digitalisation, artificial intelligence, digital twins and automation, I think, has a great future for Shenyang," said Omer Sahin Ganiyusufoglu, academician of the German Academy of Science and Engineering.
As CCTV+ reports, Shenyang, once a symbol of China's heavy industry, is today transforming into a hub for high‑tech manufacturing. The expo showcases not only equipment but also a new philosophy of industry, where tradition is combined with digital innovation. The participation of international guests and interest in Chinese technology confirm that Shenyang is becoming an important player on the global industrial map.
