According to data released on Wednesday by the General Administration of Customs (GAC), China's imports and exports with Egypt in the first seven months of 2026 reached 95.19 billion yuan (about $14.16 billion), up 18.7 per cent year on year. In particular, China's imports of Egyptian agricultural products during this period rose by 82.6 per cent year on year, accounting for 41.7 per cent of its total imports from Egypt, the data showed. Egypt became China's largest supplier of frozen strawberries and its third‑largest supplier of flax, the GAC noted. On the other hand, China exported machinery and electronic products worth 51.53 billion yuan to Egypt from January to July, up 23.9 per cent year on year, accounting for 56.9 per cent of its total exports to Egypt.

As the GAC stated, thanks to complementary resources, China and Egypt have achieved mutually beneficial results in bilateral cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Egypt.

Diplomatic relations between China and Egypt were established in 1956, and over seven decades they have evolved from initial contacts to a comprehensive strategic partnership. Egypt has become one of China's key partners in the Middle East and Africa. The Belt and Road Initiative has opened new opportunities for cooperation in infrastructure, energy, agriculture and trade. Egyptian agricultural products such as frozen strawberries, flax and citrus fruits are becoming increasingly popular on the Chinese market, while Chinese machinery and equipment are helping to modernise Egyptian industry. The 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations marks an important milestone, confirming the strength and promise of bilateral ties.

As CCTV+ reports, the growth in trade between China and Egypt reflects deepening economic interaction between the two countries. The increase in imports of Egyptian agricultural products and Chinese machinery shows that cooperation is becoming more diversified and mutually beneficial. In the year of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations, both sides intend to continue expanding trade and economic cooperation, opening new horizons for partnership under the Belt and Road Initiative and for the benefit of the peoples of both countries.
