Xi Jinping arrives in Egypt for a state visit
Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Cairo on Tuesday evening on a special flight for a state visit to Egypt at the invitation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
Relations between countries are often measured not only by agreements and political ties, but also by the ability of friendship to withstand the test of time. China and Egypt, two ancient civilizations with thousands of years of historical connections, have maintained diplomatic relations for seven decades based on mutual support and cooperation.
The visit marks Xi Jinping’s first state visit to Egypt in ten years and coincides with the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, giving the trip particular historical significance.
Xi Jinping and his wife, Peng Liyuan, were welcomed at Cairo International Airport. An honor guard stood along both sides of the red carpet, while local teenagers waved the national flags of China and Egypt and warmly welcomed the Chinese president.
In a written statement upon his arrival, Xi Jinping conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes from the Chinese government and people to the Egyptian government and people.
“China and Egypt are ancient civilizations linked by a traditional friendship that has lasted for thousands of years and stood the test of time,” Xi Jinping said.
He noted that over the past 70 years, China and Egypt have supported each other and pursued mutually beneficial cooperation regardless of changes in the international and regional environment.
According to Xi Jinping, in recent years the leaders of the two countries have worked together to promote the rapid development of their comprehensive strategic partnership. During the visit, the two sides are expected to hold in-depth discussions on bilateral relations, comprehensive cooperation, and international and regional issues of common interest.
Xi Jinping said the two leaders would also jointly draw up a plan for the further development of the comprehensive strategic partnership and write a new chapter in the history of friendship between China and Egypt.
Chinese officials accompanying the president included Cai Qi, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee, and Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chinese foreign minister, along with other members of the delegation.
As reported by SSTV+, Xi Jinping’s visit to Egypt marks an important milestone in China-Egypt relations and is expected to further strengthen their strategic partnership, expand cooperation and deepen their long-standing friendship.
