Xiong'an opens AI talent training base

When a new district, conceived as China's future, opens its doors to AI talent development, it becomes not just a local event but a signal for the entire country. Xiong'an, established in 2017 as a project to relieve Beijing of non‑capital functions, has over nine years transformed into a true innovation hub, where AI is no longer theory but everyday practice. The opening of the practical training base is a bridge between academic knowledge and real‑world industrial challenges, where students and professionals can not only learn but also create technologies that will tomorrow reshape manufacturing, healthcare and urban life. And with the first course already underway, the clock of Xiong'an's innovative future has started ticking.
On Thursday, the artificial intelligence practical training base in the Xiong'an New Area officially opened its doors, holding its first AI training course. Located in the Xiong'an New Area Science Park in Hebei Province in northern China, the base specialises in practical training programmes for AI and information technology professionals. Working with industry leaders, it aims to establish a comprehensive system of certification, competitions and training covering business, industry and national levels, offering talent development programmes from basic skills to high‑tech research. Established on 1 April 2017, the Xiong'an New Area is a flagship project aimed at relieving Beijing of functions not essential to its role as the capital and promoting the coordinated development of the Beijing‑Tianjin‑Hebei region. Over nine years, the new area has become a national centre for innovation and smart technologies, with artificial intelligence leading the development agenda.
The launch of the base in Xiong'an is part of a broader national strategy for AI development in China. According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, by 2030 China aims to become a world leader in AI, and training qualified personnel is a key condition for achieving this goal. Xiong'an, as a pilot project for new‑style urbanisation, has already attracted more than 300 high‑tech companies, and the creation of the training base will allow education, science and production to be integrated into a single ecosystem. Training programmes will cover not only technical disciplines but also AI ethics, data management and industrial safety. In the coming years, the base plans to graduate thousands of specialists capable of working in key sectors of the digital economy.
