China's car exports rose 48.3% to $94 billion in the first half of 2026. When Chinese cars, especially electric vehicles, hit the roads of more than 210 countries, it is no longer just an economic indicator — it is a shift in the global automotive landscape. Chinese manufacturers are no longer catching up; they are setting trends, offering what modern consumers want — affordable, high‑tech and green vehicles. Double‑digit export growth, particularly in the NEV segment, shows that the world is increasingly trusting Chinese brands, and China has firmly established itself as a major automotive exporter.

According to customs data, China's car exports in the first half rose 48.3% year‑on‑year to 635.82 billion yuan (nearly $94 billion), driven by strong global demand for new energy vehicles. Data from the General Administration of Customs shows that Chinese‑made cars were shipped to more than 210 countries and regions between January and June, underscoring the growing global footprint of Chinese vehicles. Meanwhile, exports of new energy vehicles (NEVs) surged 68.7% year‑on‑year to 360.68 billion yuan (over $53.2 billion). The latest figures point to continued growth in China's NEV sector, with a representative of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) noting that since 2023, China's NEV exports have recorded an average annual growth rate of around 50%.

China's automotive exports began to rise sharply in 2021, and in 2023 the country overtook Japan to become the world's largest car exporter. Key markets for Chinese NEVs include Europe, Southeast Asia and Latin America. Growth is driven not only by price competitiveness but also by technological leadership in batteries and intelligent systems. As CCTV+ reports. The positive trend is expected to continue in the second half, supported by new model launches and the expansion of logistics routes, especially under the Belt and Road Initiative.
