Xi arrives in Pyongyang for state visit to DPRK

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and

Chinese president, arrived in Pyongyang on Monday for a two-day state visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the DPRK, and his wife Ri Sol Ju, welcomed Xi and his wife Peng Liyuan at the airport.

After Xi walked down the airstairs, Kim shook hands with him warmly.

Two children presented flowers to Xi and Peng.

Other members of Xi's entourage including Cai Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee, and Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and foreign minister, arrived on the same plane.

Chinese Ambassador to the DPRK Wang Yajun also greeted Xi at the airport.
