Preparations for the construction of a section of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India transnational gas pipeline on Afghan territory continue.

At the Turkmen-Afghan business forum, which was held in Ashgabat on March 4-5, one memorandum and 16 agreements were signed between Turkmen and Afghan private companies. The total amount of export contracts amounted to more than 7 million 721 thousand US dollars.

High-ranking delegations of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan held talks in Ashgabat to promote major joint projects. The heads of the departments of the two countries involved in their implementation met on the sidelines of the Turkmen-Afghan business forum on Monday, March 4.

Turkmenistan is taking consistent steps to increase the volume and diversify routes for the supply of electricity to Afghanistan. Myrat Artykov, head of the Department of the Ministry of Energy for International Projects in the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan direction, spoke about current and planned events in this area at the Turkmen-Afghan business forum that opened on Monday in Ashgabat.

The volume of trade between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan in 2023 amounted to 457 million US dollars, and the rate of positive growth continues in 2024. In January of this year, mutual trade turnover reached 46 million US dollars, compared to the same period of the last year, this figure more than doubled. Such figures were announced at the Turkmen-Afghan business forum that opened on Monday in Ashgabat.
