More than 200 delegates, including high-ranking officials of authoritative international structures and large companies, have already registered for the international forum to attract foreign investment in the energy sector of Turkmenistan (TEIF 2024), which will be held in the French capital in a couple of weeks, on April 24-25.

Turkmenistan produces a wide range of fruit and vegetables and has always been famous for melons, watermelons and grapes, but has recently been “noticed” in active tomato expansion. The country's greenhouse industry is rapidly developing, which has allowed it to become one of the main exporters of fresh tomatoes in the Central Asian region.

On 2-6 April 2024, within the framework of the UNDP/GEF project “Conservation and sustainable management of land resources and high nature value ecosystems in the Aral Sea basin for multiple benefits”, a five-day training workshop was conducted. The workshop centered on utilizing the Global Navigation Satellite System of Base Stations (GNSS) to enhance agricultural land management and was attended by specialists from the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan.

The forum participants discussed issues of establishing an effective rail transportation system between the CIS countries and China.

The State Concern "Turkmenhimiya" is the leader in the growth of production indicators in the construction and industrial sector of the national economy. As follows from the report presented at the government meeting on Saturday, April 6, since the beginning of the year, the plan for the production of products and services by enterprises of the chemical concern has been fulfilled at the level of 152.8%.

The growth rate of liquefied natural gas production in Turkmenistan in January- March 2024 amounted to 109.4%. For other types of production in the divisions of the state concern Turkmennebit, the indicators correspond to the planned tasks or slightly exceed them.

In the first quarter of 2024, Turkmenistan's GDP growth remained at 6.3%. In the sectoral context of the GDP structure, the largest percentage growth compared to the period January-March 2023 was recorded in trade – 8.2. The service sector is also progressing – 7.6. This indicator in the transport and communications sector was 6.6, industry - 4.7, agriculture – 4.1.

Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan have agreed to establish a joint venture between the railway administrations of the two countries to develop the Trans-Afghan railway route. The agreement was reached during the working visit of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Khiva, the press service of the administration of the Kazakh leader reports.

On April 5, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Brussels organized a briefing with the participation of a representative of the Agency of Maritime and River Transport of Turkmenistan. The briefing brought together heads of European media and research centers.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has signed a decree approving an intergovernmental agreement on trade and economic cooperation between Azerbaijan, Turkey and Turkmenistan.
