More than 12 thousand Muslims took part in a large-scale iftar in Russia

More than 12 thousand Muslims united at the republican iftar in Kazan. Among them were representatives of Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, the UAE and other countries of the Islamic world.
This year, iftar was held for the first time under the auspices of the Strategic Vision Group “Russia - Islamic World” and actually acquired international status. The dinner guests included ambassadors and consuls of Islamic states and representatives of international organizations. The event took place at the Kazan Expo exhibition pavilion. Before breaking the fast and evening prayer, sermons on family values were heard on the site as part of the Year of the Family declared in Russia.
The main dish on the table was traditional pilaf, as well as dried fruits and oriental sweets. The collective breaking of the fast took approximately 3 tons of meat, 1.5 tons of rice, more than 1 ton of dried fruits and 2 tons of vegetables, about 2 thousand liters of juice and 12 thousand bottles of water and lemonade. In the pavilion of the exhibition complex, an exhibition of halal products was organized for guests, as well as a 3D installation dedicated to the month of Ramadan.
A special gift for iftar participants was a mushaf – an updated edition of the Koran “Kazan Basmasy”. Appearing in 1803 in the Asian Printing House of Kazan, it went down in history as the first printed Koran to receive theological recognition in the Muslim world.
Let us recall that Kazan is becoming one of the most important centers for the development of Islam and relations between the Russian Federation and the Islamic world. Already in May 2024, Kazan will host the XV International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum”. This is the largest event in the Russian Federation with the participation of delegations from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) states.
