The delegation of Turkmenistan, led by the Chairman of the Mejlis Dunyagozel Gulmanova, took part in the work of the 148th Assembly of the Interparliamentary Union in Geneva.
During the visit to Switzerland on March 23, members of the Turkmen delegation participated in the Forum of Women Parliamentarians, segments of which were devoted to the prospects of gender policy and the role of women peacemakers contributing to sustainable peace.

Speaking at the Forum, Speaker Gulmanova pointed out the events held in Turkmenistan in cooperation with the United Nations and other reputable international structures that positively affect the effectiveness of activities to ensure gender equality and empower women. The progress in the implementation of the National Action Plan for Gender Equality in Turkmenistan for the period 2021-2025 was noted separately.
On the same day, the Chairman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan met with the President of the IPU, Tulia Axon. They discussed the development of cooperation both in the format of the Union and at the bilateral level with Tanzania, whose parliament Speaker is Tulia Axon. In this context, the Turkmen side declared its readiness to host the delegation of Tanzania.

In turn, the President of the IPU highly appreciated the activity of women parliamentarians of Turkmenistan in the national parliament and in the international arena, the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reports.
On March 24, the Turkmen delegation took part in the meeting of the IPU Assembly, at which delegations from various countries of the world were represented, including more than 55 at the level of heads of national parliaments.
In its statement, the Turkmen side focused on practical initiatives to strengthen peace and trust promoted by the country at the global and regional levels, including through interparliamentary diplomacy. It was noted that the resolution initiated by Turkmenistan on declaring 2025 the International Year of Peace and Trust was recently adopted during the 63rd plenary session of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.
They also talked about the regional conference planned for this year, organized jointly with the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co- operation in Europe, and announced an invitation from other delegations to take an active part in the work of this event.

In the afternoon, Gulmanova met with the Director General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Martin Chongong. The parties noted the importance of such international events, during which participating countries, in particular legislative bodies, are given the opportunity to synchronize their activities to respond to modern challenges.
Regarding the interaction between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Turkmenistan, interest was expressed in holding joint events. The possibility of Turkmenistan's representation in the governing bodies of the Organization was discussed separately.
During the visit, members of the delegation of Turkmenistan also took part in the work of the Forum of Young Parliamentarians and familiarized the participants of the event with the events held in our country in the field of youth policy.
