In the 11 months of this year, Turkmenistan has increased the production of mineral fertilizers by 7.6 percent against the same period last year. According to the State Statistics Committee of the country, the value of exports of these products from the beginning of 2018 increased by 9.5 percent.
Phosphate fertilizers have the largest increase in production, which in January-November 2018, in Turkmenistan, were produced by 22.5 percent more compared the same period last year. Nitrogen fertilizer production increased by 3.8 percent.
According to experts of the State Statistics Committee of the country, statistical data for the coming year should be significantly improved, since Garabogazkarbamid plant, region’s largest investment project, has been commissioned in this September. Given its designed capacity, the plant is expected to produce 660,000 tons of ammonia and 1,155 million tons of carbamide fertilizers annually.
The new plant has two main competitive advantages - a huge local high-quality feedstock and effective logistics.
The plant is located on the coast of the Gulf of Garabogazgol, one of the few places on the planet where, in industrial scale, minerals are naturally formed due to crystallization. Such raw materials base guarantees the production of the top-quality fertilizers at the plant.
The plant is equipped with the latest technologies for fast shipment of products. The special equipment, produced by the German company FAM - portal stack-unloader type KP1200.41 for handling urea with a capacity of 1,200 tons per hour, and ship-unloading machine type SL1200.28 with a capacity of 1,200 tons per hour, were installed at the pier to load the goods to vessels.
A distinctive feature of the finished products transportation system from the plant to the terminal is a three-kilometre ecologically safe, covered conveyor system. The carbamide produced at the plant is piped directly to the sea terminal and from there is loaded onto ships that significantly saves time and, transport costs.
