On November 10-11, the 1st Ashgabat Regional Model Conference of the United Nations (Turkmenistan Ashgabat Model United Nations/TAMUN) will be held to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as part of the UN Global Awareness Campaign.
The conference will be held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and will bring together about 100 participants from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
The event is organized by the Government of Turkmenistan jointly with the UN Counter-Terrorism Office, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, the Permanent Coordinator of the UN Mission in Turkmenistan, the Regional Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in Central Asia, and the Program of the US Agency for International Development "Safe Migration in Central Asia".
Experts from the International Westminster University in Tashkent have been invited to jointly organize a forum to introduce participants to the world of model conferences, including the rules and procedures for their holding. The leaders of the "Regional Network of Youth Organizations and Young Champions of Change in Central Asia for a Drug-free, Healthy and Safe Society" will also take part in the event to hold a CND session on drug use prevention.
TAMUN 2023 is a dynamic event during which four United Nations committees will begin their work, they will discuss the most important global issues and the role of youth. This conference is a unique and innovative initiative based on the concept of "One UN", uniting UN agencies and other international organizations under the auspices of TAMUN. Their common mission lies in the powerful slogan: "Together for a safer, more peaceful and reliable world."
The organizers of TAMUN 2023 believe in the primary role of youth in shaping a brighter, inclusive and secure future for all. Participants will strengthen their diplomatic, leadership, communication and problem-solving skills, as well as broaden their horizons through networking and gain a deeper understanding of the global challenges our world is facing today. Most importantly, they will actively contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, playing a key role in advancing the global agenda for a sustainable and equitable future.
