Turkmen athletes won two medals - one gold and one bronze - at the ITF World Taekwondo Championship held in Astana.
The gold medal was won by the owner of the black belt of the third dan (the first, second and third dans in taekwondo are considered as the initial degrees of mastery - ed.), a representative of the Mary region Orazmurad Charyev.
Another native of the Mary region, fourth-dan black belt Annamurad Goshaniyazov received the bronze medal. To get the fourth dan, the Turkmen athlete passed a mandatory theoretical test in the form of a written exam.
It should be noted that the Turkmen delegation at the World Championships was represented by 13 people, including 10 athletes.
The team medal count was led by the founder of this sport - North Korea. In second place is the Russian team. The Greek team closed the top three.
The ITF World Taekwondo Championship in Astana brought together about a thousand athletes from 82 countries. Simultaneously with the World Cup, the Congress of the International Federation ITF also took place.
