The next auction of the Austria Auction Company "Exquisite Antique Oriental Carpets-XXXIII" will be held on June 10 in Vienna. The auction features 165 carpet lots, including ancient Turkmen, Caucasian, Anatolian, Persian, Chinese carpets and much more.
According to tradition, among the most expensive lots is a Turkmen carpet of the first half of the 19th century with a classic Teke ornament.
Its estimate, that is, the price range, which consists of such factors as the state of the work of art, uniqueness, the results of past similar sales, is from 20 to 30 thousand euros.
Only two carpets are more expensive than it - Turkish and Persian, which are two centuries older than the Turkmen one.
What makes oriental rugs, and Turkmen rugs in particular, so valuable and unique is their intricate handcrafted construction that transforms exquisite masterpieces into a truly durable piece of furniture. This is something that can be used for a lifetime and passed on from generation to generation, which is why the value of the carpet only grows.
